Climate Change: problems and solutions

This winter, many people died from cold winter in the north part of the world. A few years early, many people died from hot summer in France. The ice in the South and North Pole is melting; the level of sea is rising so that many islands disappear. In today’s world, there are many serious problems due to climate change. However, there are still some solutions to reduce the problems.

The most obvious problem is the abnormality of the four seasons. In the south part of China like Guang Dong,Si Chuang and Gui Zhou this winter, there was very heavy snow. However, normally in winter these places have no snow at all. This year they got the heaviest snow in the resent 50 years. Many people cannot get on the trains to go home to celebrate Chinese New Year. In some places the heavy snow cut the electric and water supply. Some cities were in great danger without electric and water. The other problem due to climate change is the rise in sea level. Some scientists predicted that if people don’t take actions to control the rising of sea level, in 50 to 100 years, people will not see Manhattan any more. The rise in sea level is serious; many people have already moved to other places from their home islands which were drunk by the sea.

Although there are some problems due to climate change, we can still do some actions to minimize their damage. The effective way is to reduce the emission of CO2. As most people known, CO2 is one of the green gases and will make the earth like a green house with temperature rising and rising. Therefore, many countries have already set law to limit the CO2 emission of cars. To individual, it is recommended to take public transport than home cars. To industrial, CO2 limitation also needed.

On the whole, if we keep trying our best to control the climate change by reducing the emission of CO2, the problem caused by climate change and the money we lose in the disasters will also be minimize.

The main causes of water pollution in Huai river in China

On June 19 2006, a Chinese expert on water control said that China faces the challenge of polluted waters that threaten the health of the Chinese people. Huai River is one of the serious polluted rivers in China. There are many causes of water pollution in Huai River. Among them, individual wastewaters, industrial wastewaters and agriculture are the three main causes of water pollution.

The individual wastewaters including toilets, bathing and laundry will be directly poured into the river. Some of these wastes are natural fertilizer which can make the float grasses boom like crazy. The fish in the river will not get enough oxygen. The fish will die and make the river even worse.

In addition, the industrial wastewaters damage the river more seriously. The wastewater which is full of chemical matters is poured into the river. It kills the fish and plants in the river directly and threatens the source of people’s drinking water.

Finally, agriculture also polluted Huai River. The chemical fertilizer will go into underground water or run into the river. This problem is serious because the fertilizers are widely used in the area. Those fertilizers with chemical substances are very harmful to human body. In this way, agriculture fertilizers also affect the water quality.

To sum up, individual, industrial wastewaters and agriculture are the three main causes of the Huai River pollution.
